Multiplay relaunches under Rocket Science and opens its doors to new studios

CARDIFF, 14 July 2026. Multiplay, the managed game server hosting platform trusted by studios for more than two decades, today announced its relaunch under Rocket Science Group and confirmed it is open for new business. The platform now sits with the original, experienced team that built it and took it to its early success — the people who understand these games and the studios behind them better than anyone.

Rocket Science Group is the new home of Multiplay. Founded by Multiplay veterans, including the engineer behind its original code, Rocket Science places the platform back in the hands of the people who have spent their careers building, running, and caring about it. It is a homecoming as much as a relaunch.

This relaunch does not come out of nowhere. Rocket Science transitioned the business several months ago and today supports over 60 live clients, including a successful global, multiplatform launch. Throughout, the team was deliberate about not fully relaunching and opening Multiplay to the world until it was confident it could back the platform up with facts and examples rather than words and promises. It believes that moment is now.

Multiplay has hosted game servers since 1997, supporting over 600 titles from more than 30 locations across six regions worldwide. In the 2010s it pioneered the hybrid hosting model the platform still runs on today, orchestrating owned bare metal and multi-cloud as a single system. That proven foundation is now the launch pad for what comes next.

“We are so excited to finally relaunch Multiplay. For many of us at Rocket Science, Multiplay wasn’t just a job from our past — it was a foundational part of our careers,” said Tom Daniels, CEO of Rocket Science Group. “We have so many things we want to do with Multiplay, especially when you combine it with the resources and offerings of the wider Rocket Science group. Together they create a far greater depth than any online multiplayer solution offered before. But most importantly, it all starts with providing the best customer experience ever seen — and that is our true north star.”

The relaunch marks the beginning of an ambitious new chapter. Rocket Science is taking a service that studios already rely on and pushing it to the next level, built around a hands-on, world-class customer experience. The goal is not simply to provide technology or a service, but a true partnership — one built on trust, experience, and guidance, standing with clients at every step.

Game launches are hard. Rocket Science intends to be in the trenches alongside its clients, giving them every tool to succeed — not only what Multiplay provides, but the full depth of the Rocket Science group behind it.

“We believe in providing what’s best for the client, and we know that hands-on support and experience are vital,” said Larry Rye, General Manager at Multiplay. “We are not here just to hand over a piece of technology that you then have to accommodate. If you want a solution that gives you guidance, options, strategy, 24/7 global support, redundancy, peace of mind, and humans that become an extension of your team from start to finish, then reach out to us.”

With the relaunch complete, Multiplay is opening its doors to new multiplayer titles and the studios building them.
